Lowering bad cholesterol—specifically low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol—is essential for reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular conditions. High levels of LDL cholesterol can lead to plaque buildup in the arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow.

Dietary changes play a vital role in managing cholesterol levels. Reducing intake of saturated fats (found in red meat, full-fat dairy, and processed foods) and eliminating trans fats (often found in baked goods and fried foods) can significantly lower LDL cholesterol.
